User Guide
Play Online
Play against other players or bots.
Online games:
1. Go to Lobby (home page)
2. Select time control: Bullet (1-2 min), Blitz (3-5 min), Rapid (10-15 min), Classical (30+ min)
3. Or create a custom time control with any initial time and increment
4. Click "Play" — matchmaking finds an opponent of similar rating
5. During the game: move pieces by dragging or clicking. Premove is supported — make your next move while opponent is thinking
6. After the game: click "Rematch" to play again with the same opponent
Bot games:
1. In the Lobby, switch to "Play Bot" tab
2. Choose difficulty level (1-20, where 1 is beginner and 20 is Stockfish at full strength)
3. Choose your color (White, Black, or Random)
4. Choose time control
5. Click "Play"
Watch live games:
Click "Live Games" in the menu to spectate ongoing games between other players.
Challenge a friend:
Visit a player's profile and click "Challenge". Choose time control and send the challenge.
Deep Analysis
Analyze any chess position with Stockfish 18.
Basic analysis:
1. Go to Workshop > New Analysis, or click "Review" after a game
2. Click "Start" to activate the engine
3. The engine shows the best move and evaluation. Use +/− buttons to change the number of lines (MultiPV, 1-10)
4. Navigate moves with arrow keys or buttons. Click on any move in the notation to jump to that position
Variations:
- Make an alternative move on the board — it creates a variation branch
- Right-click a variation to promote or delete it
Game Report:
After a finished game, click "Analyze" to get a full report:
- Accuracy percentage for both players
- Each move classified: Brilliant (!!) / Best / Good / Inaccuracy (?!) / Mistake (?) / Blunder (??)
- Eval graph showing the advantage over time
Board Editor:
Click "FEN" button to open the position editor. Place pieces freely to analyze any position.
External engines:
Click the gear icon (⚙) in the engine panel to connect a stronger engine running on your computer via Engine Bridge.
Export:
Click "↓ PGN" to download the game with your analysis and variations.
Mobile:
On mobile, the screen splits into two panels below the board. Each panel has tabs (Moves / Engine) so you can see notation and engine lines simultaneously.
Puzzles & Training
Solve chess puzzles to improve your tactical vision.
Puzzles:
Go to Puzzles in the menu — the next puzzle is matched to your rating, with filters by theme and difficulty.
Puzzle Rush:
1. Go to Puzzle Rush in the menu
2. Choose time limit: 3 minutes or 5 minutes
3. Solve as many puzzles as possible before time runs out
4. Your best scores appear on the leaderboard
Generate Puzzles from Games:
1. Go to Puzzles (menu)
2. Click "Generate from PGN" at the top
3. Upload a .pgn file or paste PGN text
4. Open "Advanced Settings" to tune generation:
- Depth (8-22): analysis depth, higher = better but slower
- Lines (2-5): number of engine lines to compare
- Gap (cp): minimum difference between best and second-best move
- Max 2nd line (cp): skip positions where the alternative is already strong
- Skip hanging captures: filter out trivial free-piece captures
- Skip attacked by lesser: filter moves where the piece lands on a square attacked by a cheaper piece
- Skip undefended after move: filter moves leaving the piece undefended
5. Click "Generate Puzzles" and wait for analysis
6. Review generated puzzles and click "Save to Server"
Solving:
The board shows the position — find the best move. After solving or failing, click "Next" for the next puzzle. Click "Analysis" to open the position in the analysis board.
Workshop
Your personal chess workspace.
My Analyses:
Saved analyses appear here. Click any to continue where you left off. Each analysis preserves your variations and annotations.
PGN Files:
1. Go to Workshop > PGN Files
2. Click "Upload" to import a .pgn file
3. Click a file to see its games. Click a game to open it in the analysis board
4. Rename a file: click the pencil icon (✎) on the file card
5. Delete a file: click × on the file card (deletes all games inside)
6. Delete a single game: click × next to the game in the game list
Live Broadcasts
Watch live chess tournament games with real-time engine analysis.
1. Go to Broadcasts in the menu
2. Active tournaments appear in the list automatically
3. Click a tournament to see rounds, click a round to see games
4. Click a game to watch it live with the analysis board
Personalize
Personalize your experience.
Settings page (click your username > Settings):
- Board theme: Classic, Green, Blue, Brown
- Piece set: Standard, Cburnett, Alpha, Merida
- Notation: show/hide coordinates on the board
- Input mode: drag or click
- Sound effects: on/off
- Move animation speed
- Language: English or Russian
Community
Connect with other players.
Friends:
1. Visit a player's profile (Players page or search)
2. Click "Add Friend". They will receive a notification
3. Go to Friends page to see who's online. Online friends have a green dot
4. Click a friend's name to view their profile, or click "Challenge" to start a game
Messages:
Click the envelope icon in the header to open direct messages. Click a friend to start a conversation.
Notifications:
The bell icon in the header shows unread notifications: friend requests, challenges, game invitations. Click to view and manage.
Blocking:
On a player's profile, click "Block" to prevent them from messaging you or appearing in matchmaking.
